Dear Colleagues,
By 2030, it is estimated that more than 30 million people could die from cancer if current provisions remain unchanged. A large majority of this shocking number will occur in Asia. The revised World Cancer Declaration, recently adopted by the International Union Against Cancer, set forth 11 objectives to prevent the impending global cancer epidemic. If the Declaration is to be effective-and indeed, it has to be effective given the scale of the problem facing us all-change is desperately needed and the provision of effective cancer prevention and treatment strategies in Asia is central to realisation of this goal.
It is against this backdrop that I would like to welcome you to the Asian Oncology Summit in Singapore-a country that fittingly sits in the centre of Asia. The Summit will encompass a series of plenary lectures covering a variety of haematological and solid cancers. In addition, the meeting will include six parallel suites dedicated to haemato-oncology, head and neck, gastrointestinal, breast, lung, and gynaecological cancer. The suites will define the latest clinical needs for oncologists in Asia and will offer an opportunity for the exchange ideas and thoughts that will help inform clinical practice. The Summit will also contain notable international experts discussing topics of pertinent clinical relevance to the situation we live in today.
I hope you will share in our enthusiasm for this event and I look forward to welcoming you to the delights and sounds of Singapore in April, 2009.

Dear Delegates,
In collaboration with Elsevier, The Lancet Oncology and the South-East Medical Oncologists Forum, the Singapore Society of Oncology is delighted to hold the popular Singapore Oncology Review Course under the auspice of the Asian Oncology Summit in Singapore the third time.
First debuted in 2005, the Singapore Oncology Review aims to review and update the busy oncologists and the oncology trainees with the latest developments in oncology. Working with our partners, we have invited leading world cancer experts to discuss and share with us their insights on some of the latest advances in oncology, particularly in the Asian context.
Through this event, we hope to promote further interaction and collaboration between oncologists from all parts of Asia and beyond. We would like to invite you to join us in this exciting and educational event and look forward to your participation.
